As a busy mom of four, Samia Gore was tired of the constant grind to maintain her healthy lifestyle. Outside of her federal government job, she had limited time and resources for cooking nutritious meals, getting enough rest, fitting in exercise, and prioritizing self-care. Finally, Gore decided to take matters into her own hands with a system that would streamline and simplify her wellbeing needs. She created Body Complete RX (BCRX) in 2017, the world’s first plant-based weight management system and centering health specifically for Black women.
As Women’s History Month winds down, Samia Gore– founder of the only Black woman-owned and formulated supplements brands on the market, Body Complete Rx– is leaning into taboo conversations about women’s health. “I have a therapist, but she didn’t necessarily help me get through this season,” Gore tells ESSENCE about the challenges she faced in the past 10 years. As Women’s History Month winds down, Samia Gore– founder of the only Black woman-owned and formulated supplements brands on the market.
As a Black woman, Samia Gore felt the health and wellness industry didn’t create products with women like her in mind. Which is why she launched Body Complete Rx, a company that makes supplements and nutritional powders, in 2017. Turns out, millions of women of color were on board. The brand has so far grossed more than $10 million in sales. Last year, BCRX partnered with the Vitamin Shoppe, making it the first Black female-owned brand ever sold in the chain’s retail locations.
Samia Gore of Body Complete Rx joined us to talk about how she built an 8 figure brand in 4 years with no investors, Gore, who launched Body Complete as a result of her own weight-loss journey, created the brand’s first product, TRIM, to help women with similar goals. The company offers a variety of supplements intended to boost metabolism and support weight loss.
